British Values
At Fawley Infant School we take our responsibility very seriously to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed, taught and embedded in a way that is accessible for our young learners. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and, in particular, our collective worship, RE curriculum and ‘Thrive’ sessions provide excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. Children embrace these concepts with enthusiasm and demonstrate a good understanding of their application to their own lives.
The school makes considerable efforts to ensure children have exposure to a wide range of experiences beyond their local community, through visits and visitors to school. We have children and families within our school community who have diverse cultural heritages which we celebrate each year at our ‘International Day’. Furthermore, our school ethos ‘INSPIRE’ values along with our learning values give our children an excellent platform for embracing difference.
The Key Values are:
- democracy
- rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect
- tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
